New year, new gallstones

If you know me in real life, there's a good chance you've heard me complain about my gallbladder.  It's been causing me problems for over two years now, but there's never been any real proof.  I've had all the symptoms of gallstones, but blood tests and ultrasounds have come back clean.  I'm pretty sure my doctor thinks I've been making up my attacks.

One of the signs of gallbladder trouble can be an overproduction of a certain liver enzyme.  In my latest blood test, this enzyme finally showed up!  Unfortunately it also appears in higher amounts in major wine drinkers, so when I went to see my doctor for the follow-up, she was pretty convinced I was a serious alcoholic.  I told her that couldn't be further from the truth, but she looked at me like, "yeah, an alcoholic would say that."  It probably goes without saying that I don't much like my doctor.  (I don't think she's very bright.)

In fact, I'd sooner trust this tool in a costume to make a correct diagnosis.

Anyway, I'm feeling totally vindicated now.  I have an appointment with a doctor today (not my own thankfully, she's on vacation) to discuss next steps.  In my opinion, the only next step I will accept is to GET THE DAMN THING OUT OF ME SO I CAN EAT PIZZA AGAIN.

I'll keep you posted on the outcome!
