Second date was great!

Hiya readers!  I can't believe it's nearly Christmas.  Things are finally winding down at work and I was able to squeeze in a second date with Josh.  We went to Futures Bakery because someone told me the Oreo cheesecake was to die for.

Josh is compulsively early.  If possible, he likes to be 30 minutes early for absolutely everything.  He's completely upfront about this quirk, and he apologizes for it, but I don't see a problem -- it's not like I'm the one sitting around for half an hour.

The date was off to a rough start because I couldn't find the place.  I know I'd been there years before and remembered the general location, but I still got lost.  I wrote down the exact intersection and even had my iphone interactive map going, and STILL couldn't find it.  I nearly had a stroke when I thought that Futures had been replaced with a frozen yogurt shop.  I called Josh to say that I hope he's ok with frozen yogurt, but then he was like, "Actually I'm standing outside Futures.  And...I think I can see you.  You're exactly one street too far west."  Oops.

So I walked the 50 steps over to him, kind of sheepishly, and then gave him a big hug.  I ordered us a piece of Oreo cheesecake to share, and two cups of tea.  (I decided this time would be my treat.)  If you want my opinion of the cheesecake, I didn't like it.  It was more like chocolate cake with a layer of vanilla filling.  There really wasn't anything cheesecakey about it.  I'm not a big cake fan so it just sat there between us all night getting soggy.
THIS is what I wanted!

The conversation this time was noticeably more comfortable and I could tell he was a lot less nervous.  He admitted to googling me actually!  He found my Facebook profile and my LinkedIn profile, but couldn't find my blog.  (I told him I have a blog where I review dating sites -- I left out the part about how I also review the dates, haha!)

Josh also seems nervous about revealing his true 'nerdy nature'.  So far he's hinted at being a huge nerd but I've only figured out some pieces.  I think he's into comic books, because one of his dating profile pictures was him dressed up as Thor for Halloween.  (I HOPE it was for Halloween!)  I also think he's into video games, but really, what guy my age isn't?  I tried to assure him that I'm also a bit of a nerd -- I'm into 'dorky' music, I like the nature channel, and I like sci-fi movies usually -- but apparently that's not enough.  What could Josh possibly be into that's so embarrassing?

Hmm... I wonder...

The first thing I did when I got home was google him in turn.  He's got a really unique last name, so it was easy to find all kinds of stuff.  Also, he was in a Christian rock band for about a decade, so he's all over YouTube.  I asked him about his beliefs last night because rocking out for Jesus is a bit hardcore for me, but it turns out only the lead singer was really high on the Lord -- everyone else just kind of went along with it.  I'm totally relieved.  (I don't have any kind of formal belief system.  I'm pretty good with being on the religious fence.)

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to going out with Josh again.  Maybe dinner and a movie?  Hopefully after Christmas there will be a suitably 'nerdy' movie for us to see together.  ;)
